About this Event

What:
World Language Cultural Can-dos
Presented by Kathy Shelton, ODE
When:
October 10
9:00-3:30
Where:
Summit ESC
Room 17 / 19
Why:
How can teachers help students develop their cultural knowledge and communication skills while maintaining use of the target language? The newly created Can-Do Statements for Intercultural Communication and the newly updated Can-Do Statements for Language will soon be published by NCSSFL-ACTFL. Come explore these new Can-Do statements and how they provide a framework for goal setting, lesson building and student reflection. Self-assess your own intercultural competence in English and in a target language and reflect on how you integrate cultural opportunities for your learners. Then, use the new Can-Do Statements to create sample cultural lessons, activities and reflections in the target language, aligned to your learners' proficiency level. (Note: Participants will be provided with a sample copy of both sets of the new Can-Do statements.)
