Why:
The Wilson Reading System is a comprehensive remedial program for students in grades 2-12 and adults
with word-level deficits (Tier 3). This 3-day introductory workshop provides hands-on practice and
application of skills with the WRS Lesson Plan to effectively begin implementing the program.
Workshop Topics:
Reading research
Principles of language structure
How the WRS addresses the five areas of reading
Program implementation
Student placement, progress monitoring, and scheduling
Creating a successful classroom environment
Participants write lesson plans and practice lesson procedures

This course fulfills the prerequisite for Wilson Academy membership and WRS certification programs. 1
Graduate Credit available through Fitchburg State University upon completion of the workshop at an
additional cost of $240.
*Special Tuition Rate for IDA Members $375; Non-Member Tuition: $430
Early registration is suggested to guarantee workshop materials. Registration is limited and processed on a first-come first-served basis. Payment is due at the time of registration and includes continental breakfastand workshop materials. Lunch is a 1-hour break on your own.
