Substitutes, both teacher and paraprofessional, are considered valuable members of the educational team. Thank you for your interest, dedication and willingness to serve.
Paraprofessionals are defined as those individuals who work as student aides, student attendants or classroom assistants. These positions require a high school diploma and NOT a 4-year degree like substitute teachers do. Paraprofessionals are required to obtain an Educational Aide Permit.
As a service to the school districts in Summit County, the Summit Educational Service Center (ESC) provides a list of substitute teachers and paraprofessionals who have completed the required training and application process. We take seriously the responsibility to provide substitutes who are prepared with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver quality instruction and aid in every classroom setting.
To be included on either the Substitute Teacher List or the Substitute Paraprofessional List, every individual, regardless of experience and licensure type, who is new to substituting through the Summit ESC must meet several requirements in the completion of the application process.
Once you have successfully completed all of the requirements for either Substitute Teacher or Substitute Paraprofessional, please contact Lori Johnston at 330-926-3918 to make arrangements for final document completion at our office:
420 Washington Ave, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221.
Please note that if you meet the requirements for Substitute Teaching and want to be a Substitute Paraprofessional, in addition to providing all of the substitute teaching requirements, you will also need to complete the Substitute Paraprofessional application.
