Summit ESC Hosts Successful Spring Preschool Round-Up

Posted: 5/5/2017

Summit Educational Service Center (ESC) recently held its spring preschool round-up for its 12 locations. All parents with children ages three to four living in one of the ESC’s consortium districts, including Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools, Woodridge Local Schools, Tallmadge City Schools, Coventry Local Schools, Copley-Fairlawn City Schools, Manchester Local Schools, Mogadore Local Schools, Nordonia Local Schools or Field Local Schools were invited to attend.

“All twelve of our preschool program sites recently received a five-star Step Up to Quality rating from the Ohio Department of Education,” said Kristin Fazio, Summit ESC’s director of student services. “This is the highest level rating that a preschool can receive. Our staff works hard to provide our preschool students with the type of early learning environment that allows student to flourish.”

Summit ESC’s preschool classes offer a language rich environment, focusing on kindergarten readiness by emphasizing early literacy and pre-writing skill acquisition.

Additionally, the preschool program was awarded a Straight A grant and implemented the Sit Together and Read (STAR) Intervention program.  STAR is an evidence-based literacy intervention program that has proven to improve early literacy skills in kindergarteners who have had exposure to the program.

“We were excited to meet 108 prospective preschoolers and their parents,” said Fazio. “Our entire preschool staff, including Brandie Kresowaty, secretary, did an amazing job of organizing this event and it went incredibly well. We look forward to the 2017-2018 school year, and the opportunity to provide our preschoolers with the best early childhood education program.”

The next preschool round-up will take place in August. The date and time will be available on Summit ESC’s website in the next few weeks.
