Summit ESC Launches Lifting Leaders Series for Networking and Aspiring Leaders

Posted: 10/31/2017

The Summit Educational Service Center (ESC) has recently began a Lifting Leaders program. The program provides networking and high-quality professional growth opportunities to various groups and individuals aspiring to transition to a leadership role.

The program is currently hosting a series of learning opportunities for individuals who are in leadership roles in their school systems or organizations to network, and for individuals seeking a leadership role.

“As an ESC, we are able to put job-alike groups together and offer an efficient low-cost professional development opportunity,” said Dr. Christina Dinklocker, Summit ESC’s leadership services consultant. “We are excited about the networking and learning opportunities this provides our affiliated and non-affiliated districts and organizations.”

Each month, the series offers speakers, panels and discussion groups that are designed to build technical and leadership skills for superintendents, treasurers, central office department heads and school principals. In addition, there are monthly discussion sessions designed for those who are in their first year of leading their district as superintendent.

The Lifting Leaders Series also offers cohorts for individuals preparing to transition to a position with greater responsibility. There are currently cohorts designed for aspiring treasurers, aspiring superintendents and aspiring building level administrators. Cohorts consist of participating educators and supervisors from Summit, Portage, Medina, Geauga, Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga counties and are open to anyone in any geographic area who wishes to join.

The series allows districts of moderate size to be able to offer professional development opportunities to their staff that they would otherwise not be able to.

“It’s our goal to equip area educators with the learning opportunities they need to professionally grow and lead within their districts,” said Superintendent Joe Iacano. “Effective leadership benefits districts, their staff members and ultimately the students and families who are served.”
